The beroccas are stocked, the champagne is chilled, the outfits are planned and spring summer has already been forgotten before the season has even begun! Its pretentious, its a statement, its hard work, its hangovers, its a lifestyle, its a love , its a hate, its London Fashion Week. Love it or loathe it it's one of our most established and essential weeks of the year. (Picture - my bum! in the Selfrdiges Bjorn Borg pop up booth)

Kicking of the antics, on the eve of London Fashion Week, Swedish underwear brand took full assult on London, taking over the iconic Battersea Power station to bring us one of the most extravagant launches of LFW. We saw the gorgeous George Lamb, drunk vodka's with the beautiful Carolin Flack and Gemma Cairney, cut shapes with Ricky and Melvin and watched as the Selfridges team got wet in the hot tubs!

Yes there were a few, urm, trip ups to start but what is life without a bit of manic-ness! Without mentioning any names some bloggers need to just get off their high horses.....frankly if you weren't having a good time from the get go then why did you stay so long? Lets face it your probably just a blagger anyway who had no career path so ended up in blogging getting the freebies and pretending your something more just an XBOX bum.

To end, life is to short to complain over some minor little details and after a few drinks, sexy models, an amazing light-show, a set of awesome tunes and a plethora Oyster Bjorn Borg successfully made their stamp on the UK Map and are set to continue their sexy fun antics throughout 2012 and onwards......and BOY! they are by far comfier than Calvin Klein!

Taking you from the melancholic sounds of female vocalists and dream wave electro boybands of the 2011, Skrillex is banging dubstep on your door and wiping his faux mud feet on your brand new mat. Goggle him and you may find a bit of hate race against him, he's done the underground whilst mixing the mainstream....something, which lets face it, can not be done. You are simply underground until you go overground and being topped now in the BBC 1 2012 one's to watch i think he has crossed the threshold. Not a bad thing, boy is going to start making some money and while he may lose some creds from fanatics of previous years listening to him in dinging holes, he is going to earn a hell of a lot more. Breakin a sweat is his latest track playing out, but i would check out the earlier sounds and previous works with the likes of Deadmau5 and Nero to name a few.

LFW is upon us again and it has never been such an experience! Normally for me...its about the parties, the shows, the catching up with old friends and bonding with new friends over the hangovers! This year is some what different having experienced my first show planning experience...and boy its a big one too! So my normal life of berocca, sweets and whatever food i can find has occurred pre FW for different reasons and i have been left somewhat pooped on day 1. Instead i have resorted to select partying and live streaming!

Friday it couldnt have kicked off better with a sophisticated show from Paul Costellowe and the sun shining but Bora Asku set the tone in the afternoon! Normally one for box fits, leggings and choice masculine oversized jumpers, Bora stole my heart and took me to a mystical forest full of sheer fabrics, ominous and intriguing shades on eyes and OMG killer shoes (supplied by United Nude!)

ISABEL YOU KNOW ME SO WELL
I am completely contradicting myself by posting this, i say i never really care for the trends (which i don't really) but you can't help get inspired by some of the delights on offering from the AW catwalks. I am also still sat in my PJs and looking for some kind of motivation to get my butt of the couch and out into the day (although pat on back i did go for a run this morning). Anyway after trending for work, i am absolutely loving the Isabel Marant collection! Simple styles, a touch of feminity in soft fabrics but given a boyish edge with over-sizing and sharp cuts, its like it was meant to be....! Unfortunatly for me my bank balance won't allow such extravagance so i am off to the local marie curie and oxfam to see how we can rumage together something for tonight. If your at a loss on this fine saturday then i suggest you head down to Yo Mama @ Catch in London....sweaty 90's hip hop mixed with dancehall beats and a touch of cheese i plan on burning off the calories from the pre bbq!

So its been a while (well a few months now!!) since i last blogged and my god lot has happened. Both in my personal and work life. Everything has gone off! my friends have changed(although those most important have remained), my job has changed....i've become more of a wino than i ever thought(however no i'm not an alcoholic!) my x has a new girlfriend...i have a new house and i've gained 9 pounds!!(not a bad thing...!). Taking a little tim eout from the old blog has been both sad and good....all you bloggers out there know the occasional panic of not having blogg for 24hrs!!! Im not sure if any of you will care if i have gone from blogging or care that i have now returned...just expect the same old ramblings with maybe a slightly different perspective...one that is coming from a person over the bullshit, over the drama and just looking for good times, good people and good reads....

Its finally here! Its been a long time coming, but a new alternative to Sunday markets (and lets face it something different to upmarket!) Its not huge but its definitley not small!

Championing the good old fashioned jumble sale but with our own booze, food and music additions Muff Market features a great selection of independant sellers and thrifties selling everything from vintage, clothing, bric a brac, homewares, art and more! From 7pm live music will be provided by Animal Circus (a perfect cheeky combination of beats and london charm). The Bar will be open all day - with cheap drinks and food from our culinary genius on offer!

The name, yes i know may not be to everyone's taste (but just think how many hits i will get for having Muff as a tag!) But take it with a pinch of salt and the thought of three slightly drunk girls feeling a eureka moment when it was blurted out. Its loud, proud and set to be an awesome day!

Apple Tarts @ Brogdale Farm, Faversham / 28th May 2011 They are not T in the Park and they are definitley not Glastonbury but they are the Suburban Tarts who have been bringing us sweaty, get down and messy (gin drinking on the streets!) parties. Now they are set to take on a new venue and take the urban out of their surburban and bring us their own version of festival frolics! It may be small and probably very very messy, but for one night and day only the tarts are taking over Brogdale Farm in Faversham to bring us Apple Tarts. The Festival begins at 1pm on the Saturday and exactly 12hrs later, and will feature all you need including but not limited too bands, djs, bar, rockeoke, locall sourced food, bonfires outdoor games and more! CRUX EXHIBITION

Exhibitions galore hit shoreditch tomorrow night for the monthly trail of art gallery openings, shmoozing....or more to the point, free boozing! First thursday has, lets face it, become somewhat of an excuse to go out for some free booze...and with the sun shining its pretty little rays down on your unloved winter skin, you can bet tomorrow night on Redchurch and Vyner street the crowds will be out. Im not saying there is anything wrong with just going for the free drinks, and actually first thursday gives the opportunity for greater exposure for maybe less established(or promoted) exhibitions and artists. But if you actually want to check out some awesome new art then head to the Rag Factory for an creative and eclectic mix of work from a group of amazing (young) emerging artists. Jack O'Brien (who was featured here last year and is definitley one to watch) showcases alongside artists including Matt King and Hannah Davis

Label Watch: Faun

'Ethereal, Pretty, Feminine' Words that do not fit in my wardrobe. I won't lie, i don't do floaty, feminine and over fussily clothing but I was intrigued when i recieved the invite and release for new label Faun.

Last week this new British label, kicked off my weekend by inviting me down to the launch party for their new online store and preview of the S/S11 collection. Their lookbook was so so but after viewing the collection in the flesh , my mind was changed, the lookbook definitly dosn't do this collection the justice it deserves! Designed by George Singleton, the range is small and simple, focusing on key prints, colour ways and shapes but adding a touch of charm through the addition of carefully thought out twists and detailing. Already coveted by the likes of Grazia and Sketchbook Magazine (who created this video from the launch) , Faun offers quality and feminine designs that you can't find on the highstreet but at prices that sit below the designer boutique range. Its a delicate collection perfect for S/S and those who are looking for something outside of the highstreet drone without breaking the bank!

Kicking off the launch day fellow bloggers AlexLoves, Fashionista Barbie and Anastasia & Duck were treated to a preview of the collection and tea and cake at cute shop-come-cafe Out of Town, which unfortunatly i couldn't make but I made sure my new Bertie shoes were donned for catch ups with the girls from Ballad Of, canapes, wine and music from Dj Nikki Beatnik at Cicada's.

Loving this upbeat summery tune, its got all the vibes of seaside but without too much of the Californian twang (although you can tell they toured with the Drums!) Bertie Beautiful!

After a long and stressful day, meeting various people, magazines and interviews i was a bit drawn and tired and debated wether or not i could make it out. I also had another four-nights-in-a-row week and was starting to miss eating dinner! But a fan of the Bertie brand and a few emails with some fellow lovlies i knew would be going down, i was up dressed, dinnerless, but none the less ready to go! And how glad was I!!!

The moment you walk into the Bertie store - wether full of fellow bloggers scrambling at the shoes and free popcorn, or just everyday shoppers, you can smell the quality! Greated by the lovely girls from Bertie there was an impressive array of beautiful shoes to feast your eyes on, alongside lots of popcorn and packs of haribo!!(my dinner)

The collection showcased an impressive but wearable collection of leather wedges, strappy sandals in shapes that were comfy with an innovative edge. People were going crazy for the chunky Prespa wedges (picked up by my good friend Bumpkin Betty) and the quirky brogues (my second choice and ones i am going back for next week!) but i was all over the 70's inspired brown weave courts. Yes that is them in the picture above...and no i am not trying to be a secret blogger - im just vain and trying to maintain some of the little dignity i have left!

Said shoes escorted me on the following night to the Faun Launch Party and then for lunch at the Reebok Lounge on Friday and then pulled out all the stops on saturday with crimped hair and a cream, wide leg jumpsuit! They saw and heard many things and my feet are still alive! Great heels, great quality and hopefully will have lots more great tales and outfits to tell...

Huge congrats to the Bertie staff (they dealt with the manic bloggers and endless shoe requests amazingly!) and a big thank you to the team for a great evening and my beautiful pair of shoes!!

Alice Gold - Runaway Love (Andy Weatherall Remix)

I was lucky enough to meet the lovely Alice Gold the other day (and see some of her beautiful vintage buys...very jealous!). I have been a fan of ALice for a few months and its so nice to see this girl get the recognition she deserves. Chic, stylish charm, in both looks and music, is delicataly shaken with a brassy rock n roll groove. Words you may not think fit together but Alice is bringing us a charm in her music that is catchy pop, rough and ready with a 70's hippy wash.

Her first commercial release 'Runaway' is out on April 18th on Fiction Records, preceeding a very hotly anticipated album 'Seven Rainbows' coming in July. Love this video - visually summing up why you cant not love this girl.

Stylish step in the right direction

DUNE. If i think of Dune store i think of late 90's early 00's. Then the giants Topshop, ASOS, New Look, Office and more ploughed into the market to offer fashionable and affordable (New Look being the big winner!) stylish shoes that had quality without the price tag. DUNE seemed to take a back seat...but my opinions and memories of this shoe store chain are changing. Last week i popped along to meet the lovely and very talented Olivia Rubin at the launch for her new hotly anticipated collaboration with Dune. Checking out the collection and in general the whole presentation of the evening (pink fizz and cocktails were yum) i was falling in love and seeing a new side to the store i had not frequented for a few years. Quality hiller heels, fun flats and bags were adorned with some signature prints courtesy of Olivia. Favourite had to be the Cream swirled wedges 'Matisse'- a 70's siren, with a touch of girly cheek = summer statement. For the pop colour trend and a bit more Bowie than delicate Bardot it had to be the 'Warhol'. Modelled by Olivia herself. Yes there were a few that didnt appeal, but then thats down to personal taste. If prints and patterns arn't nessecarily your thing then still check out the latest editions instore. Prices between £45 and £100, with most sitting around £70. A good price for a well drawn killer heel with trend and class. I hear there are many more things in store for Dune so watch this space....!

The History of Lewis's 5th Floor

Ive known about this exhibition coming for a while and im so excited a) to be out for a second night in a row (working from home is not fun!) and b) the exhibition is finally here!! From the amazing talent of photographer Steven King, tonight the Orange Dot Gallery opens its doors to celebrate its latest exhibition - The History of Lewis's 5th Floor.

SO what's it all about - in short if you like fashion and photography, stories and a telling of time...you'll love it! Lewis's Department store was an iconic building in Liverpool, trading for over 150 years. In 1980 the 5th Floor of this grade 2 listed building stopped trading, but as Stephen discovered many of its original features and displays were still intact. Imagine - a iconic hub of hustle, bustle and style....frozen and empty. but full of history and stories lurking in its walls.

Inspired by this lost level, like a moment in history stopped in it tracks and frozen, King embarked on a project to document this forgotten floor. A series of photographers featuring images of the store and over 38 members of staff - past and present, i can't wait to see the whole thing together in the beautifull space that is the Orange Dot Gallery.....will twitter update galore (unless i get to drunk and forget!)

Yum Yum Yum. Having always been a East girl, I am slowly starting to fall more and more in love with the North of London having discovered some great restaurants (HOMA and plenty of turkish delights) Charity shops(Marie Curie Highbury Corner) and quirky little galleries...oh and my x lives there and a girl has needs! haha.

Now its getting a lovely little concept in the form of the TOS Kitchen. On Monday 4th April The Other Side Magazine will be hosting its very first pop-up restaurants, the first of many new concepts, events and ideas to come from this London culture mag, this looks like it could be a winner! Taking over Nyborgs Cafe for one night only, Sicilian chef Salvo Trincali (who has his own restaurant in Trapani, Sicily) will be creating a fabulous 4 course meal all for only a donation of £19 each. There will be two sittings 7pm-8.45pm and 9pm till close.

Dent May and his Ukulele

The sun is shining and spring is finally in the air so what better way to have started my day by discovering and falling in love (i blame the spring feeling, im falling in love a lot at the moment) with the beautifully quicky Dent May and his fantastic Ukulele. I actually use to play the ukulele myself, days spent in Devon with my family as a child playing old folk tunes and drinking robinsons squash ( yes i have lived many personalities!). Well and truly evoking a sense of traditonal folk music and modern listening, Dent May, with his signature style has well and truly touched my heart. Not from Devon, no, but hailing from Mississippi, an equally picturesque folk music drenched location, his tunes mix easy listening melodies, healing lyrics with the delicate twangs of his famous Ukulele to make them wholly his own.

He is coming to the UK and is playing at Hoxton Bar and Kicthen (im sure his geeky honest and alternative looks will pull the crowds in East London) on 12th May.

Profile : Valerie Chiang

I do seem to have a little thing for profiling young new talent, but its hard to not be fascinated by some of their sheer dedication and insight teens have. Profiled here is 18 year old Valerie Chiang from North Carolina who's beautiful washed photo's that document, invite and provoke imaginations and stories. Using photography as a method of escapism....a common theme ive noticed of late in young photograhers i know (seriously is life getting that bad!??), Valerie seems to extend beyond that to capture a feeling reminiscent of those expressed by William Blake. Somewhere lost between innocence and youth and maturity. Although too many to choose from my favourite has to be the ones above, all for different reason i won't bore you with!

But i am no art expert, so i guess in hindsight what i love is her work...story or no story there is a mood and a feeling i love and i hope you do too! She has already worked for Blanket Magazine, Blip Magazine and Urband Outfitters....Good Luck Valerie and thankyou for your lovely email....i expect to see more soon i hope!

EastEnd Thrifting...

Lets face it London's East side is awash with a hub of vintage stores and thrify basement, and whilst im not complaining it was lovely to come across a new little find providing both vintage and second hand items but all in the name of charity! After a dissapointing trip to Lama's Pyjamas on Roman Road (normally a favourite of mine if im in need of a cheap random purchase, but on this occasion i left very empty handed) I pottered round to the Gallery Cafe(another great vegan/vegetarian Bethnal Green haunt) and passed by a delightful window display of a store that previously a bit of a mess!

Formerly known as Ikosi, the place underwent a little makeover in July 2010 to become what it is now known as Ayoka. A new charity boutique style shop, i won't lie, you will find alot of your typical charity shop tack and primark dresses! But thanks to a with fun bunch of fashion conscious volunteers working the floor there is also great collection of vintage gems and unusual labels pulled out from the depths of endless black binliners. Channelling a 70's chic look at the moment, for a measely £14 i picked up a almost new deep red blazer from jigsaw and a lighterweight cream blazer from paris, along with a beautiful dark green shirt dress for £4 (more hippy chic than workwear chic) and a gorgeous green sheer scarf for £1!

Raising money for African Women's Welfare Association, it dosn't just stop at the clothes....with more instore gigs, events and shop shenanigans planned for the future! Next to York Hall, moments from Victoria Park and Bethnal Green station, take a peek if you get the chance!

Birds Eye Viewing....

Maybe it is just down to talent, or maybe its down to females trying to make it in what was always such a strongly male dominated industry for so long. Either way you want to look at it female directors are definitley not getting the credit they deserve. However over the past few years things have been slowly changing thanks to the likes of Sofia Coppola (her beautifully shot, straight and honest story telling movies include Lost in Translation, Somwhere and Marie Antoinetter) Kathyrn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) Andrea Arnold (Fishtank) and many other exciting talented females who have been pushing boundaries to show the world that its not just men who can make gritty, intense and award worthy films.

Its that time again for the Birds Eye Film Festival. If you havn't heard of this basic breakdown, im sure you probably have already grasped but its a festival dedicated to the work of female directors. Whilst there is the argument that why don't we have male centred festivals, maybe the industry for females is in need of a little extra platform....and Birds Eye is working perfectly. From the 8th -17th March BEV takes over the BFI, ICA and other cinema venues in London expect feature films, short flicks, slient film with live commisions, fashion in film and most exciting for me a look at women's place in horror - Bloody Women: From Gothic to Horror.

Favourite top picks and ones to watch out for include London Premiere of Golden Globe winning In A Better World , 'quarterlife crisis comedy' Tiny Furniture by Lena Dunham (trailor above!), Night Catches Us, Kathryn Bigelow's classic vampire flick Near Dark and featuring the beautiful Michelle Williams (who nailed a hot look at the Oscars this year) Meek's Cutoff.

Set up by two lovely northern lasses, Ballad Of magazine showcases some of the best emerging talent around and offers and online and offline platform to showcase their work. Produced bi- monthly the girls work with a host of amazing talent both in the production and pages of the magazine...i was lucky enough to be styled up by the lovely Be, their latest Ballad Of recruit.

AND NOW its time for the girls to host one of their get up, get dancing, get arty and drunken BALLAD OF Presents parties.....Check out their diary page and you will know what i mean when i say these girls and guys know how to party and feeling the post LFW blues, Ballard Of are here to lift your spirits whilst showcasing some amazing talent and most importantly get you dancing!

I will be heading down there early doors so if your wondering who i am - look out the the girl dancing on not-suitable-for-dancing-on furniture or slumped somewhere in a corner with a gin and glass of wine in my hand (don't judge this is my first night out after recovering from a 2 week flu!!)

Exercise in style and then get merry...really could you ask for much more? Calling all fashion lovers, tea drinkers, merry men and women and cycle fanatics as registration for London's 3rd annual tweed run opens on 26th February.

Combining all the essentials for a london quirky event with style, don your finest tweeds, pack your bum bag and then join 400 others to cycle round some of london's best sites...including saville row of course) have a delightful afternoon tea sponsored by Aubin & Wells! with it all ending in a good old fashioned knees up (out horeditch way...of course! wouldn't bet you anything to guess that). Lets face it, this is going to attract some of those gents(who really arn't gents..just so far crawled up there fashionable bums they have ended up in a different era!) but i do mean few and far between...its a great laugh, great people, competitions galore for best bikes, dress and moustache and its only a £5 with all proceeds going to BIKES4AFRICA. A spiffingly marvellous day, a good cause, a free afternoon tea, a few too many sherry's and hey i think you can count this as exercise!

Fashion for me and you

Wether you care or not London Fashion Week has begun. My liver has been eased in with a quick pop in to the Diesel/Addidas party last night, my body is no longer my temple and my starbucks card, canapes, berocca and diary....along with my daily apple must, are my new best friends. For me FW is not so much about the big shows but about the free booze and exciting new designers...and then the post show updates the following day obviously. However this year things are a little different...out are the late nights (she says despite being on many a glists this year) instead i am replacing(or maybe just combining with) my normal FW antics with endless watching of shows that are happening across the city. If you know or work in the industry you'll understand the buzz...if not and you want to feel apart of it for the first year ever - LFW is coming to the masses. Finally! Considering the industry brings in a huge amount of revenue for the capital its nice to see its finally reachable.

A very adapt post considering my overwhelming need for a lot of water (have just been out pounding the streets and worked up a healthy sweat) and something other than the guilty pleasure drown of Radio 1 i have resorted to to get me through the 'working at home'.

These delectable dreamy tunes may not be the perfect work out playlist , but they are brilliant for a post workout stretch, so with a hose down my throat on one of my daily check ins at bandcamp i have well and truly feed both my physical and musical thirst. We may be drowning in a wash of dreamwave/showgaze upcomers but i am more than happy to invest my time swimming in their sweetly scented, non salty tasting pool of tunes.

Firstly the name does it all for me....i can't seem to stop saying it and after checking out what howkapow was all about i fell in love (and my overdraft) a little bit more. An online store it offers both a space for selling and promoting some of the best upcoming and most importantly innovative talent in design and art around. Its a bit like a bigcartel but cuter and a bit more select and kitsch. To be honest every day is a day of love, a day of love for myself mainly but in light of the V day (my first alone in over 4 years, and of which i am spending in a country retreat - the family home, alone with red wine, salmon dinner and a huge log fire!) here are my favourite picks and a must for those who are in need of a personal treat.....

Rocking all over the catwalk...and some of London!

Innocently i tripped along to the launch of the New Core Spirit store the other night to check out the space and see what they had going on, little did i know i would end up at soho house after strutting it on the catwalk, meeting some fine gentlemen and doing my part to save the pub! Eventful is one word!

Honestly, the Core Spirit clothing isn't my cup of tea normally (think modern sleek italiana glam incased in concretes, studs and metal work) however after a good perusal of the collection i discovered some lovely gems! A beautiful peach floaty top with black lace black, a denim all in one and a gorgeous cream felt style bag! still tempted to go and get the bag!

YOU ROCK THE CATWALK!Set over two minamalist floors the new store boast its very own amateur catwalk! The real gem in this is that anyone can use the catwalk wether for some test work, a bit of fun or to help build your portfolio. So from teh 1st of March you can log on to the Core Spirit site and book your space absolutly free - makeup artists, a backstage area, self controlled lighting and a heap of clothes to choose from i suggest you check it out!

So after a few glasses of champagne and much persuading from the Ballard of girls and guy i found myself whipped backstage, being styled by the lovely BE (ballard of stylist), my hair whipped up, backcombed and bobbed and my eyes smoked out by the lovely on hand make up team. Another few glasses of champers, and a lot of perving on the models backstage i was ready for my debut! A somewhat tragic run looking back, i was shaking my booty a little to much(probably making up for the lack of it!) but a great experience none the less. I wore a grossly gorgeous marroon leather jacket with sharp cuts and lace inserts and lovely sleep black dress.....again never something i would wear but i most definitly rocked the Catwalk at the Core Spirit store!

A lovely evening which continued into the night at various london locations.....Huge thankyou to Ballard Of for the company and Core Spirit and Stephanie Churchill Pr for a wonderful evening!

Brat and Suzie is growing up and onwards! The other day i popped along to see the girlies at Freewheelin' and checked out the beautiful new collection from Brat&Suzie. Set up by Polly Vickery only a few years ago the collection seems to be only going from strength to strength and catching up with the lady herself over Christmas it sounds like this is only the beginning of it, with plans for loads more diversity in the collection already in the pipeline.

It's still maintains the kitsch creatures and well fitting tee shapes that we know, love and that has become the signature of the brand so fas (note the recent Henry Holland fox jumper - a design that polly has had for a while!) but added in we have a new selection of tees, shorts and dresses in whimsical patterns and a delightful mix of ice cream shades - a succesful nod to trends, the signature brat&suzie illustrations and a new direction and progession.

On Friday night i met the lovely Jenny Robins (make sure you check out her site!)who, as part of a team of extremely talented illustrators at the afternoon tea & launch for Amelia's new book 'Amelia's Compendium of Fashion Illustration' (which you must check out!) treated guests to their very own fashion illustration! The whole day and night was amazing. Along with getting my very own FL in the afternoon we were treated to some yummy scones from Lily Vanilli who also created the amazing centre piece cake (pictured), tea's from Pukka and hand massages! Then after popping out for some catch up's and a quick bite to eat (im a lightweight without food!) with some fellow revellers it was back for the after-party. The place was absolutely packed, Amelia was on top form (and in some most fabulous Nina Dolcetti shoes!) and we took full advantage of the dancefloor (and vodka!ooops!) and then later proceeded to get even more drunk and develop a new best friend in the form of drag queen Ginger Johnson!(although he wasn't in drag at the time!)

There was too much to write about but last and definitely not least i can't forget to mention the amazing goody bags we received in the afternoon! Been wearing my Tatty Devine necklace all weekend and am 100% a Dr.Hauschka convert. HUGE thankyou for inviting me down!

Last night Lyle&Scott hosted the second instalment of their 4 Curated By gigs at London's XOYO. Featuring some of the best new talent around and building on the success of their first gig (with one of my favourite bands at the moment Trophy Wife) i was more than happy to be invited back down to check out their next line up of acts. On the night we were treated to sets from Foreign Office, Tribes (both worth a listen), Life in Film and the beautiful Paradise Point (my treat of the night!). I could sit here and bore you with a long written description on what a great night it was, but luckily for you the clever people at L&C have made a short video so you can check it out for yourself.

I also spied a couple of my fellow bloggers, a few musical friends and very randomly Martin Kemp and the beautiful Coco Sumner....a great night of acts (all very well dressed in L&C of course!) new,mental and old friends, dancing but a not so great head the next day! Big thank you to Lyle&Scott and I look forward to seing what they have up their well dressed sleeves in their 3rd instalment.

Amelia's Compendium of Fashion Illustration

Building on the success (and prettiness!) of her first book, Anthology of Illustration, Amelia Gregory the founder of Amelia's Magazine, is back with her second instalment and its definitely a winner! Presenting in her usual beautiful and bright way, a range of amazing up and coming illustrators and key ethical fashion designers, its a fresh and attractive way of looking at ethical fashion and an essential must have for inspiration wether your a designer, illustrator or just general enthusiast. Expect to find interviews on the design practice of the chosen 30 illustrators (all hand picked via an open brief here) and a heap of great profiles on some of the very best in ethical fashion design, including (one of my favourite designers of the moment) Christopher Raeburn, 123 Bethnal Green Road, Junky Styling, Dem Collective and many more!

Oh and did i mention the whole book is entirely ethical in its production too? Another triumph from Amelia. Pretty Picture aside (although this was what initially drew me in) Celestial Shore was a pleasant little find this morning. Sounds of California dreaming with great experimental twists to bring their own take on retro summer dreamwave/gaze(whatever you want to call it!). I may not be a genius with musical technical jargon but i have an ear, well two, and i suspect after only a few days of being up on bandcamp they are bound to get a bit of attention. For me its setting the summer vibes and dragging me out of the January blues. Roll on picnics, cider in tea cups, drives in the countryside and spring time frolics. Oh and they have a member of the band playing the Wurlitzer! Favourite track has to be Lost but check them out for yourself.

Released today you can download their digital album California Eden for free - couldn't have picked a better name to sum up this 4 track gem.

Opened last October its a treasure trove of vintage inspired clothing from rockabilly to rudeboy, Style Council to starlet. Original, independent designers from the UK, America and Japan. Currently on offer in this charmingly dressed venue are items from Bettie Page, Vintage Allure, Stop Staring dresses and some lovely accessories from one of my favourite designers of the moment Jenny Collier (Jenny Jenny)

Spending a summer of work researching into new talent and working with mid teens, i was blown away by just how much gusto, ambition and want kids have today. At the age i was going through my, urmmm, lets say rebellious stage, today, teens are out and about, interning, working and even starting up their own companies. Yes apart of me is jealous, but i'm not exactly not doing well having spent a few years being a bit of a miscreant. Anyway - their talent and drive never stops to amaze me.......

So when i came into the office this morning to see an email from this 15yr old, i had to share her with you too. Introducing 15 year old aspiring photographer Amelia Oakley. There may still be some skills to develop and a look somewhat copied from a glossy mag - but she is still learning and developing. What she is doing is pushing, engaging and most importantly capturing an intensity in her pictures, a look found beyond the lens sunk in teens angst and emotion.

She obviously has talent and ambition and looking for opportunities to be more than 'that girl in school who takes photos' I look forward to seeing what the future holds. One bit of advice inspired by something I recently read in ELLE magazine though. Don't map out your life too young. Have drive, have passion, but never avoid just looking round the corner, or trying a different route....if only for a little while. If you have the faith and ambition - you will never get lost, don't be afraid to divert from what you think you should be doing.

An Exhibition For Hipstamatics

Launched last summer, hipstamatics.com is a blog set up by Jack Thomas, born out of both a personal love for analog photography and a recognition of its developing phoneminon. Dedicated to iPhone Hipstamatic photography its beautiful online photo reel that brings together and showcases some of the very best Hipstamatic shots from around the globe alongside some in-house originals. Never one to want to be apart of the moving fads of technologies, alas this has made me want to get an IPhone now!!

With a inbox full of hundreds of pictures it only seemed logical to introduce a new decade with an exhibition of the very best of modern yet retro photography. The very best from the site are now going to print to form the first UK show of its kind at the Orange Dot Gallery. Cleverly choosing to showcase only 157 prints – the same number as the amount of original analog cameras produced, the exhibition is both homage to both the history and future of Hipstamatics the exhibition.

The first UK show of its kind and another marker for the Orange Dot Gallery i'm more than excited about seeing all the works come together in the Gallery - check out some of my favs from the site currently above!!! Show going up this week and the guestlist is looking manic for the opening night...can't wait!

ORANGE DOT CHRISTMAS MARKET

This weekend i was at the opening of the Orange Dot Gallery Christmas Market and despite later slipping on ice and fracturing my wrist it was a delightful treat! Open Wed, Thurs and Friday evenings and all day on the weekends (although as its a gallery space also they have the doors open all day) every week there are new designers and crafties taking over the four/five stalls in the gallery. Featuring alongside an impressive exhibition, London: A Winter Wonderland, which is an advent of 24 Prints (will do a separate post for this!) there is a suitable little christmas line up of treats including clothing, cards, crafts, decs, teatowels and tote bags.

This Wed, Thurs & Friday from 5pm until 8.30pm its late night shopping again - and for a small donation you can grab yourself a glass of Mulled Wine! The Gallery is then open again all weekend (with rumours of homemade soup being on offer) and all of next week too!!!

I like and dislike this band for a few reason, most of these reason fall into both the like and dislike categories - london/kooky/beautiful but odd sounds and melody formation. But this is a great video - wether you think its too much or the song is shit (i love it personally - french meets east London with a bit of english ruff and tumble and a hint of scissor sisters pop)

Whilst there are aspect that you can't deny a lot of bands seem to be doing, you can't fault how this small band are putting all their efforts into every aspect of their whole presentation, music and persona. From the first time i heard them they have definitely grown, channeling and maturing their sound and this video for new single Hotel Chevalier makes me fall all back in love with them again.

ART MOSH IS COMING BACK TO LONDON! If you haven't heard about this art/music project from Nixon - then go have a read up on their site - there is quite a bit too it and i'm not about to give you an essay!

For a quick basic run down Art Mosh is a series of one-night only pop-up exhibitions which aims to showcase a eclectic, international host of some of the freshest talent in contemporary art and music. This time round ART MOSH is popping up at the A Foundation in Shoreditch, a former Victorian school now a converted gallery - this is a great venue and perfect for the project. Artists exhibiting on the night include graphic artist Mark Ward renowned designer and artist the lovely Giles Curties, and British artist Richie Culver will be exhibiting with high profile London based illustrator Sophie Stevens as well as launching his project MONSTERS. The music is coming from the likes of Liam Bailey, Jamie Skillz (Monochrome) and Andy Bell. If you like art modern and old, music, trying something new outside of the museum art norm, and discovering and meeting great people all over a few drinks (of course) i suggest you check it out - head to their sight and sign up to the mailing list.

I have been feeling the french flutters like many of us even more so than usual of late. My fashions and styles never seem to rest with one particular 'trend' but i have tried a kind of lady chic, with English roots and a little impregnation from the french - with a bit of my ruggedness....although hangover days result in a bit of a fail on this.

Working in an office of men currently its hard to not fall into the lazy dressing category - so i have recently been on a mission to invigorate everyday with a completely new, classic and empowering ladylike outfit. Im also in dia need of a new haircut and so it looks like im heading in the style of messy Greco bob- stunning! Its been working a treat and i think next week i will be busting out the plethora of little red dresses and maybe having a suitably vixon week. SO in the spirit of my hungover French rambling - here are just some random mood setters & inspiration....

The first ever show for this elusive collective The Orange Dot Gallery opened its door for another great show and even better opening night! Set up by (the never to be interviewed) Wolfie Smith, the collective - which includes the legendary comic artist Brett Ewins - work together to produce art that showcases their range of talents including freehand spray, paint, marker, paste ups, sculptures, stencil and photography. You couldn't meet a nicer, more down to earth group of street artists and their passion and skills really do shine across the whole exhibition. You may think i am being biased - but not normally a fan of graffiti/street art - im actually loving having this show in the gallery, learning about the history of street art and the artists and if only i had a 100% discount(or bigger bank balance) i would probably have a few pieces in my flat...

Big thank you to everyone who came down, and if you are yet to see the show its on until 26th November at the Orange Dot Gallery, 54 Tavistock Place . Pieces are selling fast so if your interested in buying hurry on down....

Wow could you get a better combination of name, track name and video? Tiger Love are a little pink bubblegum of retro pop sounds. Only recently formed in 2010 by brothers Roy and Gigi, and underage drummer Loral keep an eye(ear) out for this trios infectious sounds, bleeps, bounces and quaky electronic vocals.

I've mentioned this guy here before on the blog and just had another little gem of his work pop into my life! One of his most recent work and i'm loving it. It was a commission of campaign posters for a PCF - appearing all over the streets of France. I could try and explain the work in my own words...but this is so much easier so take a goosey gander and his own explanation..

The history of the French Political poster dates back to the Forties, these works of art were created by the leading creative practioners of their time, with artists including Pablo Picasso providing artwork for the PCF political party. The posters of Mai 68 have also featured in numerous exhibitions recently.

Present day and Sunil Pawar was charged with the task of carrying on this strong graphic lineage by giving a nod to the slick graphic style of these classic posters, but to create artwork that was relevant today, for this a series of four posters were created.

Along with myself (obviously the most important!) some of his more notable fans include the likes of Kayne West and Junya Watanabe, hes an ace guy and whilst i wouldn't normally like this style of art im a big fan of Sunil and of his amazing Slingshot London Mixes!!!Keeps me runnng for miles....

In the words of this Oxford trio themselves this is 'ambitionless office disco' and while this may sound like the dullest of descriptions it seems to fit the bill pretty well for this happy-sad-well formed beat compilation. Its a little step away from the more beachy dreamy sounds of late - with a bit more of an indie gruff edge to it.

I don't quite get this rather strange video, but it does seem to fit quite well! Check them out and then head to Electrowerkz on Novemeber 9th for the single launch. On stereo their music works well so it will be interesting to see what impact their melodic bop has live.

Not just a clothing range but the name behind some pretty fun parties i will be checking out their new range tonight and a very special basement art installation at the lovely Jaguar Shoes space/bar in Shoreditch tonight. Crazy, Nice, Fun.

Play and Patterns

Wednesday was play day and after a route around most of london, i ended the night at the Dazed:Diesel Party at The Pattern Cutting Factory. Two years ago, Dazed and Diesel teamed up to find emerging young filmmakers and the night showcased the result. three strong and beautifully shot short films from three very talented young up-comers. Check out the Videos on the Dazed sight now.....my favourite is Cult Youth.

PATTERN CUTTING FACTORY

It was a standard great night and loads of great people (bonus you could smoke in the venue too! although remembered why i hate it when i woke up to stale smoke smelling hair!). The venue - the perfect stage for the showcase - is also home to one of my favourite markets - The Pattern Market. If you haven't been there make sure you head down and check it out, a hidden gem full of cheap goodies and vintage buys its tucked away in an old railway arch like warehouse just off the Kingsland Road

For the first time, Uli Weber has assembled, to showcase a 20 year retrospective of his work. A legend in portrait and fashion photography last night at the Hospital Club saw the Private View of Portraits by Uli Weber. From Sting to Boy George, Twiggy and Lily Cole, Uli has shot some of the most iconic british icons from the past two decades. Expect a select range of 40 stunning images which showcase some of his most greatest achievements....its definitely worth checking out, even if you don't recognise the name you will no doubt recognise some of his iconic shots. Its only on the a few days so head there asap to check out this rare showing from this highly accomplished photographer.

GUARDS

Closely affiliated with CULTS - Guards are proof that you don't need much more than some old old modern social networking to get noticed. It may be another band who are channeling the new wave, dreamy pop sounds but punchy vocals in the chorus give them a little kick to lift it out of the normal hazy wave of tunes you get from dreamwave music. Really don't know much more about this band apart from their blood relation with one CULT member and the fact they formed in New York.....but its friday, my head is sore and my brain is ready for the weekend and their melancholic modern, retro twanged tunes are keeping me ticking over until 5 o clock when i will unleash some big tune MJ Cole style riding riddims and get myself ready for a steak dinner with Mr Sauvignon.

Im still questioning if without the help of so called clever networking if they would be as known as they are now - but for now i'm happy to just enjoy what they have to offer and they aren't exactly all over the radio just yet....

Fanny and Jessy / Watch this Space....

Celebrating and launching their new SS11 line in true F&J unique style, the girls stormed London Fashion Week to bring us a showcase with a difference. Ambushing events and parties throughout LFW models were dressed in the new collection and masked as Fanny or Jessy - getting photographed by various well loved party paps.

Their distinct style of intricate designs and experimental use of cuts and silhouettes has resulted in another great collection from the only recently graduated design duo. Speaking on the collection the girls said “There is always a continuing theme of humour and light heartedness in our collections using fabrics that could look vile in the wrong contexts." Taking inspiration from the OTT italian designers of the nineties they have shaken up some rather tasteless ideas and made them truly desirable. Some pieces may be more for show than share and wear - note the coyote ugly style leather lace up skinnies - but what they have done is created a balance of pieces. A use of subtle uglyness lies in their collection in crypt patterns (look closely!) but combined with elegant lines, subtle shades of nudes and strikes of slick black, all elegantly laid together - the result is something gaudy and grotesque but in a good way!

The use of masks in the campaign cleverly reflecting the title of their new collection 'Watch this Face' and ill tell you one thing you should definitely be watching these girls faces as they only get bigger, bolder and better....

Matthew Rose - the renowned collage artist is coming to the UK and will be exhibiting his latest works (along with an exclusive piece created just for the show) next week at the Orange Dot Gallery!!! Its a pretty rare chance to see his work in an intimate space and so to celebrate the Orange Dot  commissioned the talented upcoming composer Hari Ashurst to create and layer a piece  to fit this old video they found of Matthew. Almost like Matthew's work, the video is the Gallery's own piece of collage work bringing together two artists – both of whom use samples and textures in their work to make something new.

A fabulous little store- despite its tiny size - is about to take over in Clerkenwell as one of the most popular venues/cafes/shops around. Well thats my opinion anyway!

A friendly and inviting atmosphere its not only perfect for a morning coffee, but everything in the store is for sale. Even the chairs you sit on are up for grabs ....but of course replaced with another gleamy gem asap. It pretty much has everything and anything - vintage fashions, ceramics, furniture, art, textiles, all sourced from near and far. Don't feel like the pressure is on to purchase though (like many tiny boutique vintage stores!) its relaxed and friendly atmosphere means you can simply enjoy a chat over a coffee if thats all you wish!

To coincide with London Fashion Week - this month's focus is fashion. On offer you can expect original WW11 Aviator jackets, Belstaff pieces and Northsea clothing company knitwear (these guys are one of only 8 worldwide stockists!!!) Its been open a few weeks but is officially launching tomorrow night. With cocktails and canapes and a heap of stuff to purchase i will be there with 2 empty hands (cigarette/canapes and drink in each) and a wedge of cash at the ready.

is probably not what you'll be on if you slip into just a few of the cutting edge and chic pieces from Danish label Best Behavior....

Just popped by the showroom to peruse through their A/W10 collection and check out the new S/S11 collection. Ridiculous isn't it really ? We have only just finished up summer season in 2010 and already we have whipped past AW10 trends and now its all about SS11 with fashion weeks a go. For A/W highlight has to be the tropical skull print dress....and trousers, scarf and while i'm at it, the top too! Its one of the best prints i've seen this season. Bright to blow away the dull rainy days but with a grungy edge and baggy shape to add a bit of winter darkness. With stripes featuring heavily too it has a real Alice in Wonderland gone grungy and dark feel to it.

Check out the site to preview the Full A/W10 collection. Summer pics coming soon but expect the same innovative designs, baggy but sharp shapes all in delicate hues and warm tropical pastels. Its got a feeling of days gone-by and a touch of chic french riviera style but of course all brought into the modern century with their signature shapes and graphic prints.

Definitely a label to watch and purchase - one of my new favourites!

Respectable in the Noughties?

So after a few bevvies and checking out the new G-Shock launch it was time to head straight to an exhibition i've been looking forward to seeing for a while.

An exhibition curated by fashion lecturer, photographer from Antony Price - and made up by a host of different photographers images its a telling insight and documentation of the lives, fashions and styles of the underground, club culture that made up the first decade of this new century. Its scary to think that we have already started to regard the last ten years as something poignant but as an ever moving, style greedy, culturally feasting society, it isn't surprising how things really change so quickly.

The exhibition really does spark a question whilst also offering something which i think anyone of any age could connect. Check out more and a fascinating interview with Antony here.

Parasella Death Squad x Casio G-Shock

Last thursday (again good night is apparent due to the lateness of this post!) I headed down to G-Shock's industrial little store off Brick Lane to check out their latest collaboration with British label and music producers Passarella Death Squad.

With the fundamental design harks back to the ever popular DW-6900, its definitely got the PDS demeanour with trademark humour in its graphics and detailing. Unfortunately for me and my tiny wrists G-Shock watches are not something i purchase, but lucky there was also a specially designed T-shirt which i definitely had my eye on! If your a fan of music and G Shock these are some reasonably priced gems that are worth checking out!

54th BFI London film Festival announced its full line up of screenings today. There is literally tons of great films but i've never been brilliant at just picking out the ones to watch! After a little pondering here a few of my top picks and simplified plot lines....

Edge

The focus is not on the story line, but more the unravelling of characters. Set in a crumbling lonely hotel on the devonshire coast, Carol explores through the eyes of the hotel maid a story of wry humour, drama and people. A brilliant cast, simple story line and beautifully located this film looks like a winner...i hope im right!

Directed by Carol Morley starring Maxine Peake, Marjorie Yates, Joe Dempsie.

Never Let me Go

Although i can't stand Keira Knightly and the endless films with long shots of her bloody pout!(note picture again!!!) i am a huge fan of Kazuo Ishiguro's novels and stories and have been looking forward to this. Its a beautiful tale of friendship and childhood memories. I do recommend you read the book first though!

LFW is fast approaching....parties are being planned, blaggers are on the blag, PRs are losing sleep over show seating and far too many people are already working out what to wear to make sure they look "just right".

In amongst some madness and 'the' shows and parties that 'must' be attended there is some real great accesible and genuine things happening. One of the things i am most looking forward too is the opening of the Glorified £ Shop which is opening its cleverly conceived doors from 17th - 23rd September. Taking over the basement of one of my favourite little kitsch stores MAIDEN, The Glorified £ Shop looks set to be one hot little space offering not only bargain clothes, shoes and accessories from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's but each day they will also have an in store happening. Ohh hello! While slightly reminiscent of several beachy/california retro/chillwave bands around at the moment i'm liking The Vaccines slightly faster paced tracks washed with retro shadows and pulled together by simple but effective lyrics. Perfect modern retro listening for a summery friday afternoon....Im pretty excited about these guys....lets see what happens and fingers crossed they dont fall down (produce the same shit over and over) before they even really get started.

MATTHEW ROSE/SCARED BUT FRESH

Matthew Rose spells with Scissors and Glue. If you don't get little riddle line then basically Matthew Rose is an amazingly talented collage artist who creates beautiful visual delights through a mixture of paint, cuttings and texture. His works both intrigue and inspire the eye and the mind with riddles hidden within their carefully laid composition.

Having been an established artist for the past 20 years Matthew has exhibited across the world and featured in a range of books whilst also himself writing for many publications and papers. I unfortunately will never be able to purchase one of these amazing pieces just yet as slightly out my price range, but i will enjoy drooling over the forthcoming exhibition at The Orange Dot Gallery.

With the online store launching, a new homewear collection on its way and endless stock changes in store...H&M know how to make us quake with excitement in our little sheepskin high-heeled booties. If that wasn't enough to give you sexual fashion shudders of excitement - have you been keeping an eye on their teaser campaigns for their next big collaboration? Pam Hogg and Bottega Veneta are just a few of the names that have been creeping up but it all looks like its all related and pointing to the wonderful Alber Ebaz of Lanvin! While it will never be the same thing as the real thing - H&M are definitely the champions at the moment for designer high street collaborations.
